Rare Lands
In the heart of Abruzzo, between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine mountains, lies the territory that gives rise to the De Luca family's wines: an extraordinary landscape where nature, climate, and human labor coexist in balance, creating particularly favorable conditions for viticulture.
Here, each vineyard is the result of a careful choice, guided by a deep knowledge of the territory and a commitment to enhancing its natural characteristics.
Soil and Origin
South-facing and carefully selected from those most suited to viticulture, the vineyards grow on soils with highly favorable characteristics.
Just beneath the surface lie layers of gravel, accumulated over millennia by the flow of the Sangro River, which has gradually shaped these hills.
These fresh, well-drained soils allow the vine roots to develop deeply, ensuring vegetative balance and contributing to the consistent quality of the grapes over time.
Between Sea and Mountains
The vineyards are located in a privileged position, sufficiently close to the Adriatic Sea to benefit from natural marine ventilation even during the warmest seasons.
Sea breezes help maintain optimal climatic conditions for vine growth and grape development, while bringing a subtle saline note that enhances elegance and complexity in the wines.
At the same time, the proximity to the Majella massif allows the vineyards to receive cooler currents from the mountains.
The meeting of marine air and mountain winds creates significant day–night temperature variation, an ideal condition for slow and balanced ripening.
Balance and Ripening
The climate of the area supports a gradual and steady ripening process, allowing the grapes to develop aromatic complexity while preserving freshness.
It is a natural process that is reflected in the quality of the fruit and contributes to to wines that are both balanced and distinctive.
A Direct Connection with the Vineyard
Each vintage is the result of the interplay between soil, climate, and vineyard work.
The characteristics of the land, the influence of the sea, and the presence of the mountains come together to create a natural balance that is expressed in the quality of the grapes and the personality of the wines.
It is this deep connection between vineyard and territory that makes each bottle an authentic expression of the land it comes from.
